It won’t be long now before the best holiday of the year, Halloween, emerges from a cool Autumn to trick and treat you to your heart’s delight. Of course, with the season that brings scares and inappropriately sexy costumes of cartoon characters comes a wealth of new horror movies for all to enjoy. One such film lined up as a part of this year’s fright-filled slate is HELL FEST. Directed by Gregory Plotkin (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE GHOST DIMENSION), HELL FEST tells the terrifying tale of a masked serial killer who turns a horror themed amusement park into his own personal playground, scaring the shit out of a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.
With a screenplay written by Seth M. Sherwood (LEATHERFACE) and Blair Butler (POLAROID), HELL FEST looks as if it has perfect setup for a tried-and-true stalk-and-slash thrill ride. The upcoming film stars Amy Forsyth (RISE), Reign Edwards (SNOWFALL), Bex Taylor-Klaus (TV’s ARROW, TV’s SCREAM), Christian James (TV’s NASHVILLE), Roby Attal (LONG ROAD HOME), and Matt Mercurio (TV’s BLACK LIGHTNING, TV’s BALLERS). Horror icon and CANDYMAN alum Tony Todd also has a role in the film.
How are you with Scare Walks or Spook Houses? Personally, I’m not interested. Not only do I have a heart condition that warns me against indulging in such a thing, but I also have a nasty habit of always spotting the workers before they can frighten me. I’ll say this though, it’s fun watching them move on to other, more unsuspecting victims. Anyway, I think HELL FEST looks like a great time at the movies. Visually, the layout for the event itself is spectacular, and the premise is also quite nerve-racking. I don’t know about you, but if I’d heard that a patron died at Hell Fest the previous year, my ass would stick to trick ‘r treating around my neighborhood.
CBS Films and Lionsgate will unleash Hell Fest in theaters on September 28th.
