Dick Grayson’s Robin is most known in comics history as the plucky sidekick to Bruce Wayne’s Batman – but things have changed. In the new show from DC, TITANS, Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) is a jaded, darker Robin who cracks skulls and tells Batman to go f**k himself. The first trailer arrived today as San Diego Comic-Con gets underway, with other members of the Teen Titans showing up, like Raven (Teagan Croft), Starfire (Anna Diop) and Beast Boy (Ryan Potter).
The upcoming action-drama will find Robin and Raven tracking down the other Titans when a threat arrives that threatens the world as we know it. The show was developed by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti and will be made available digitally on the upcoming DC Universe streaming service later this year, and will be followed by another show, DOOM PATROL.
So, what do you all think? The DC world has had a strong foothold in the TV world with shows like ARROW, FLASH and SUPERGIRL, but they can’t say “f**k” and slit people’s throats to gushing effect on network TV. This trailer comes out of the gate strong in showing how far DC intends to take things with their own slate of shows, much like Marvel does with their Netflix shows. I don’t know if it’s enough yet to motivate me to subscribe to a whole new streaming service, but it looks pretty cool, and I’m sort of eager to hear more opinions from Grayson on Batman.
