SPOILER WARNING! DO NOT READ THE COMMENTS if you haven’t seen the movie yet. If you have and want to discuss some of the details of the film, that’s fine, but BE RESPECTFUL about it. It’s been a somewhat low key summer for big releases this year, seeing as two of the biggest offerings, ANT-MAN & THE WASP and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM were both fine pieces of entertainment, but nothing monumental or Earth-shattering. With AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR setting the bar exceptionally high before summer even started and DEADPOOL 2 making some awesome noise, the later summer months were looking a little bleak. Except the ace in the hole; MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT, a franchise series that continues to evolve and get better and better with each new entry, now in its sixth chapter and showing no signs of slowing down. It’s the action spectacle we’ve come to love, always waiting to see what star Tom Cruise will do in the next entry that pushes the boundaries of any actor working in Hollywood today.
Director Christopher McQuarrie returns to direct (a first for this series) and brings back a host of franchise favorites, including Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin and Michelle Monaghan, while bringing back ROGUE NATION’s villain, Sean Harris, and adding a new one in Superman himself, Henry Cavill. Thus far, reviews have been outstanding, with ours being no exception. JimmyO gave the film a 10/10, saying, “This isn’t just a great action flick, it is likely the most thrillingly exciting film of the year.” Chris Bumbray also had high praise for the film in his 9/10 review, saying, “In many ways, FALLOUT feels like the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movie Cruise has been building towards since 1996. Always one of the most entertaining franchises, FALLOUT is a textbook example of big-budget filmmaking where the creators have clearly perfected a formula and decided to go all-out.”
