YouTuber Logan Paul has revealed that his latest New Year’s resolution is to “go gay for a month” on his podcast. Paul and co-host Mike Majlak say that they are sober and vegan for the month of January and that they’re planning on going the opposite route for February, which will involve eating “big steaks” and drinking “big bottles of Tito’s” (vodka). However, it’s the month of March that has many social media users outraged. Paul explains.
“And then March – take a guess. What is it? Male-only March. So it’s male-only March, we’re gonna attempt to go gay for just one month.”
Mike Majlak adds that in April that they’re going to swing right back, which causes the entire panel to laugh. After the “go gay” comment, Logan Paul can be seen trying to quickly change the subject to Coachella’s 2019 lineup. Social media has not taken too kindly to Paul’s New Year’s resolution. One person says, “Obviously to Logan Paul being gay is some sort of punchline to a joke.” Another Twitter user had this to say.
“You don’t “go gay”, it’s not a choice. Holy sh*t why hasn’t this guy’s career ended with the suicide forest bullsh*t?”
One social media user says, “Imagine being so socially unaware that you think it’s ok to go gay for a month,” which echoes many of the comments swirling around the internet at the moment. However, there have been more than enough people standing up for Logan Paul and his New Year’s resolution. One person says that Paul is obviously kidding, noting that “they’re clearly joking & there is nothing wrong with being gay!” Another person said they would stop watching his videos if he went through with his commitment.
For the most part, social media seems to be against Logan Paul’s attempt at humor. After reviewing the video, one can see that he almost regrets it by trying to quickly change the subject. The YouTuber has yet to comment on the matter, though some of his fans in the gay community wish that he would step up and address the subject. As always, there are more than a few people standing up for Paul and his right to make jokes.
The new controversy comes one year after Logan Paul came under fire for posting a dead body that he found in a Japanese suicide forest on YouTube. He deleted the video one day after, but it had already amassed 6 million views. His first apology received even more backlash, which led to him trying to make a suicide PSA video, which again, sparked even more controversy. Logan Paul seems to be starting this year just like he did last year. You can check out some of the outrage and support that Paul has received below, but first check out the podcast, thanks to Impaulsive YouTube channel.
Obviously to @LoganPaul being gay is some sort of punchline to a joke. Make sure to tell that to youth that kill themselves because they struggle with being gay. Shame on him once again. https://t.co/7HE1t6AxC9
Yet another swing and a miss from @LoganPaul. You can’t just ‘go gay’ for a month for a laugh. And for all the people defending this and saying it’s just a joke – even if it is, it’s tone-deaf and not funny https://t.co/uYhGpmBsAl
what the FUCK is wrong with logan paul he seriously thinks its okay to say hes “going gay for a month” when so many gay/bi people cant come out from fear of being disowned by their family or being kicked out of their homes and jobs or literally being KILLED im truly SO disgusted
People are outraged that @LoganPaul improvised some jokes about sexuality during a long-form podcast? Do you really care? I don’t think u do, outrage culture. You’re outraged so you can receive public praise. Ur making people fear success. This isn’t good for us as a society
