Villains on the run beware, because NBCUniversal’s Syfy has announced that they have plans to develop a television series featuring DC’s bounty hunting bastich, Lobo.
As part of a partnership between Syfy and Warner Horizon Scripted Television, the Main Man, who made his television debut in the second season of Syfy’s KRYPTON, is gearing up to crack skulls and leave skid marks all over the Multiverse while in pursuit of his next big payday.
Lobo was created by in 1984 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen and made his first appearance in the pages of Omega Men #3 (1983). Throughout his storied career as a contract killer, the Main Man has gone toe-to-toe with some of DC’s boldest and bravest characters, including Superman, Hal Jordan, Martian Manhunter, and Deathstroke.
While Emmett J. Scanlan plays the character on Syfy’s KRYPTON, a spokesperson for the new endeavor starring the Rob Zombie-lookin’ badass, has said that “no additional details” about casting have been confirmed at this time. Meanwhile, Cameron Welsh, the executive producer of KRYPTON has been appointed as an executive producer and writer for LOBO.
In the time that Syfy has been hosting KRYPTON, the superhero-inspired series has garnered much praise from fans and critics alike. If you’ve never tuned in, KRYPTON is presented as a superhero drama set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. The show follows Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, whose House of El has been ostracized and shamed. As Seg-El fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos, he’ll be forced to confront the ideologies of his people while searching for a way to build a better tomorrow.
