Fans of Netflix’s incredible true crime drama MINDHUNTER have been waiting very patiently for a second season after the first dropped in October 2017. But now the wait is almost over, as the release date for the second season of the show from producer David Fincher and executive producer Charlize Theron has been confirmed for next month. This means you all only have one month left to get those tape recorders, prep those notes and prepare to get into the mind of some seriously f**ked up folks.

Fincher himself was the one who dropped the release date while on the podcast The Treatment, with Deadline confirming with Netflix that the date is indeed August 16. Based on the book “Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit” by former FBI agent John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, the series follows Jonathan Groff’s Holden Ford (a fictionalized version of Douglas), Anna Torv’s Wendy Carr and Holt McCallany’s Bill Tench as the three conduct behavioral analysis of convicted killers so as to develop new methods of tracking down killers. This meant for encounters with some deadly individuals, including Ed Kemper, played by Cameron Britton in an Emmy-nominated performance.

The first season was met with critical acclaim when it debuted back in 2017 and was quickly renewed for a second season. There’s been speculation over what will be the focus of the second season, but it’s been hinted that it will take a place a few years after the first season, between 1979 and 1981 and center on the Atlanta child murders. Also of note will be the presence of Charles Manson, who is being played by Damon Herriman, and who will also be playing the character in Quentin Tarantino’s ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.

MINDHUNTER is one of the best shows on Netflix’s lineup, and next month can’t come soon enough. The performances were top-notch across the board and the premise itself made for some intense suspense and stirring drama. Fans of all things true crime have eaten it up and this will be a must-watch when it drops next month, and we could be getting those first official details, photos, and a trailer anytime now. And if you haven’t seen the first season, please remedy that instantly!
