Blumhouse has released the trailer for The Hunt and it looks pretty chilling. Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse are behind the new movie, which has been described as a political and subversive thriller. As for the storyline, it is similar to The Most Dangerous Game, Battle Royale, and The Belko Experiment, but with a twist. It’s unclear what the specific twist is, but it sure looks intriguing from the trailer.
The trailer for The Hunt plays like commercial inviting us to go join the Manor, an elite hunting facility that makes everything look nice and relaxing. However, as the narrator continues to hype the place up, one begins to notice that this isn’t a normal hunting experience in the slightest. Instead of animals, the hunt is for humans, who have no idea where they are, or how they arrived there. You can read the logline below.
“Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen… for a very specific purpose… The Hunt“
The Hunt takes place in the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, when a group of globalist elites gathers for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (Hilary Swank) at the center of it all.
From Jason Blum, the producer of Get Out and The Purge series, and Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the TV series The Leftovers and Lost, comes a new mysterious social thriller. The Hunt is written by Lindelof and his fellow The Leftovers‘ collaborator Nick Cuse and is directed by Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, The Leftovers). Blum produces for his Blumhouse Productions alongside Lindelof. The movie is executive produced by Zobel, Cuse and Steven R. Molen.
Ike Barinholtz, Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts, and Hilary Swank star in The Hunt. Craig Zobel is in the director’s chair for the thriller and it looks like this is going to be a much different take on a pretty well-known story. Blumhouse originally announced the release date of September 27th, but then switched it to October, and then back again to the original September date. Blumhouse does not shy away from tackling politics and social issues in their movies and they are often able to work with a small budget to deliver big hits. The Hunt looks like it will be a pretty big hit for the studio with the right promotional push behind it.
