Whoooo boy! Fans of the bad boy detective duo of Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) are in for a real treat this morning, as Sony Pictures just dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming third installment of the BAD BOYS franchise, BAD BOYS FOR LIFE. And man oh man does this look like a high octane action feast for the eyeballs!
While the pair may be older, it doesn’t appear as if Mike has lost his mojo with Smith’s Lowrey driving a Porsche like Batman and jumping through explosions and around helicopters. Lawrence’s Burnett on the other hand seems very much in the mode of Danny Glover‘s Murtaugh from LETHAL WEAPON, with his Marcus on the verge of retirement. In other words, he’s getting too old for this shit. However, it doesn’t look like he’s too old to help his partner out one last time, as Mike looks to be the target of a major criminal in Miami.
Old also appears to meet young in this new trailer, as the detective duo are partnering with a new task force at the Miami police department, much to the delight of their cantankerous superior officer, Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano). BAD BOYS FOR LIFE will find the pair the target of a notorious Romanian mob boss who is looking to get revenge, after the two defeated his brother.
While director Michael Bay helmed the first two installments, directing duties this time around fall on the shoulders of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. However, if this trailer is any indication, it appears as if the directing duo have captured that Michael Bay signature Bayhem to a T. In fact if I didn’t know otherwise, I would have bet the house that Bay was directing this third installment based solely on the trailer.
BAD BOYS FOR LIFE stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Joe Pantoliano, Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton, and Nicky Jam, and explodes its way into theaters January 17, 2020.
